Read Across America with Smart Start of Pender County

National Reading Month, celebrated in March, is a vibrant opportunity that unites communities across the nation in fostering a love for reading among our youngest learners. Schools and organizations come together to host engaging events and activities that inspire children to dive into the world of books, transforming reading into a joyous adventure.
Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 2nd to 6th, 2025. In support of National Read Across America Week, Smart Start of Pender County will be hosting a special local event. The event will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at Smart Start of Pender County located at 600 N. Timberly Lane, Burgaw, NC 28425. Lunch will be provided. Each child present from birth to 10 years of age will receive “4” free books. Children may dress up as their favorite character or bring a stuffed animal.

This month serves as a perfect reminder of the vital role literacy plays in early childhood development, and it aligns beautifully with Smart Start of Pender County’s mission to empower families and enhance educational experiences for children. Let us embrace this special time to ignite curiosity and creativity in our little ones through the magic of reading!
However, if you are the parent of a rising Kindergartner and cannot attend the event, please come visit us on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm to pick up your child’s books.
